If you make up a batch of buttercream icing (500 -650g approx) you may need to use 2 - 3 teaspoons of Titanium to whiten the icing.

Titanium Dioxide is one of the best white pigment agents available. It is generally used in any chocolate work where you require a whiter result. A small amount added to white chocolate will remove its natural yellow colour.
